About Firring & Tilt Fillet
Both firring and tilt fillet are construction techniques employed to address issues related to the slope and drainage of roofs.
Firring is the process of tapering or beveling a surface, often a roof, to create a slope or to make it level. We stock thin, wedge-shaped pieces of timber, used to install between the framing members and the roofing material. These strips help create a sloping surface that directs rainwater away from the structure.
A tilt fillet is a wedge-shaped piece of timber, that is used to fill or cover an angle or gap in construction. In roofing, a tilt fillet is often placed at the junction between a horizontal surface (such as a roof deck) and a vertical surface (such as a wall or parapet).
